SK hynix and SanDisk Introduce New High Bandwidth Flash Standard for AI

SK hynix and SanDisk have unveiled the High Bandwidth Flash (HBF) standard, a new memory tier positioned between HBM and SSDs. Supported by Google DeepMind and Tenstorrent, HBF aims to resolve AI memory bottlenecks by offering capacities up to 512GB and bandwidths up to 3.0TB/s, leveraging the UCIe interconnect. This innovation could significantly enhance AI system performance.
