Malicious Cyberattacks Target Over 30 US Water and Wastewater Systems

Malicious cyber actors have targeted programmable logic controllers (PLCs) in more than 30 community water and wastewater systems across at least seven U.S. states. The FBI and CISA are recommending that water organizations disconnect PLCs from the internet, enable password protection, and limit remote access to mitigate these attacks, which have degraded water operations in some instances.
