SpaceX Plans On-Site Gas Power Facility for Massive Texas Semiconductor Complex 'Terafab'

SpaceX has revealed plans to build an on-site natural gas power plant in Grimes County, Texas, to supply electricity to its colossal semiconductor manufacturing complex, Terafab. This multi-billion-dollar facility, also incorporating large battery storage arrays, aims to consolidate the entire semiconductor production chain—including logic chip design, memory production, and packaging—under one roof. The project, a joint venture with Tesla and xAI, is designed to produce hardware for Artificial Intelligence (AI) compute capacity, autonomous vehicles, and robotics, reducing reliance on overseas microchip supply chains.
