Sony Semiconductor and TSMC Establish Joint Venture for Smartphone Image Sensor Production in Japan
Sony Semiconductor Solutions and TSMC are forming a joint venture, Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing, in Koshi City, Japan. This new company will be a central hub for the development and volume production of image sensors for smartphones, with production expected to begin in 2029. Sony will be the controlling shareholder and contribute ¥465 billion ($2.9B).
