Sony Semiconductor and TSMC Form Joint Venture to Produce Next-Generation Image Sensors in Japan

Sony Semiconductor Solutions and TSMC are establishing "Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing," a joint venture in Koshi City, Japan. This $4.7 billion investment will focus on the development and volume production of next-generation image sensors for smartphones, with commercial production expected by 2029. Sony will hold a 60% stake and lead core image sensor technology development, leveraging TSMC's advanced process technology.
