NASA AI Model Detects Emerging Sunspot Regions 12 Hours in Advance
NASA has announced a research-stage artificial intelligence model capable of identifying signs of an emerging solar active region up to 12 hours before it becomes visibly apparent. While not yet operational for real-time forecasting, the sliding-window Transformer model uses precursor measurements to forecast the emergence of potentially storm-producing regions.
