Apple Surprise-Launches M6 Chip and New Mac Desktops

Apple has unexpectedly launched new versions of its Mac Mini and Mac Studio desktop computers, introducing two new processors: the M6 and the M5 Ultra. The M6 chip is notable as Apple's first processor built on 2-nanometer technology, featuring a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU with a new 'Dual 16-core Neural Engine' designed to accelerate on-device AI tasks. The M5 Ultra is touted as Apple's most powerful chip to date. Both new machines are available for preorder and are expected to ship on September 22.
