Alibaba Releases Smaller, Cost-Effective Qwen3.8-Flash AI Model

Alibaba Group Holding Ltd has released the Qwen3.8-Flash model, the latest addition to its Qwen series. This open-weight AI model features 125 billion parameters and is designed to be a lower-priced, cost-effective platform to drive global adoption of Alibaba's AI offerings. The company stated that its performance is competitive with recent releases from rivals such as Anthropic's Opus 4.6 and DeepSeek's V4-Flash. The Qwen3.8-Flash uses an architecture intended for the upcoming Qwen 4 series, which is expected to significantly reduce training and inferencing costs.
