Sumitomo Chemical Begins Mass Production of InP Epitaxial Wafers for AI Data Centers
Sumitomo Chemical has initiated mass production and sales of 4-inch indium phosphide (InP) epitaxial wafers, a critical compound semiconductor material, at its Ibaraki Works. These wafers are essential for photonic-electronic convergence technologies, which are vital for supporting the evolution of next-generation AI data centers. The company aims to achieve sales of approximately 10 billion JPY from its InP epitaxial wafer lineup by the mid-2030s, contributing to the societal implementation of advanced digital infrastructure.
