Anthropic Introduces Model Hardware Standard to Enable AI Agents to Operate Machines

Anthropic has unveiled a preview of its Model Hardware Standard (MHS), an interface designed to simplify and standardize how AI agents interact with and operate physical machines in the real world. This initiative, part of Anthropic's push into physical AI, aims to reduce the integration time for AI agents to control scientific research and advanced manufacturing tools, including microscopes, robotic arms, and even quantum computers. MHS allows users to provide natural language information about hardware capabilities and safety limits, enabling agents to perform complex tasks like drug discovery and laser calibration more autonomously and safely.
