AWS to Launch First Cloud Region in Saudi Arabia by December 2026 with $5.3 Billion Investment

Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced its first cloud infrastructure region in Saudi Arabia is on track to launch by December 2026. This initiative represents a planned investment exceeding $5.3 billion (SAR19.88 billion) in cloud infrastructure, aiming to support the Kingdom's digital sovereignty requirements and enhance AI leadership. The new region will offer developers, startups, and enterprises the ability to run applications and serve users from data centers within Saudi Arabia, and will include AWS's Trainium chips and NVIDIA AI infrastructure for AI training and inference workloads.
