Windows 11 to Automatically Enable Memory Integrity Starting October 2026, Potentially Affecting Older CPUs
Microsoft will begin automatically enabling Memory Integrity, also known as Hypervisor-protected Code Integrity (HVCI), for eligible Windows 11 devices through regular quality updates starting in October 2026. While already default on new installations and Secured-core PCs, this rollout will extend the security feature to upgraded systems or those where it was previously disabled. This security measure, which verifies kernel-mode code, may lead to a decrease in gaming performance on older processors.
