CISA, NSA, and FBI Warn of Chinese AI Firms Siphoning U.S. AI Model Capabilities

A joint cybersecurity advisory from the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), National Security Agency (NSA), and FBI has warned that six China-based AI companies are conducting 'industrial-scale distillation campaigns' to extract capabilities from leading American AI models, including variants of Claude, GPT, Gemini, and Grok. The advisory names DeepSeek, Moonshot AI, Alibaba Group, MiniMax, StepFun, and Z.AI, stating that these firms have pulled billions of tokens through millions of requests since late 2024, likely with the knowledge of the Chinese government.
