Valve Launches Steam Frame, a New Standalone Wireless VR Headset

Valve has officially launched its new standalone virtual reality headset, the Steam Frame, after previous delays. The device is now available for reservation, with a 256GB model priced at $1,049 / £889 and a 1TB version at $1,299 / £1,089. The Steam Frame comes bundled with the popular VR game Half-Life: Alyx and runs on a custom Linux-based SteamOS 3, powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. This release marks Valve's entry into the standalone VR market, offering a wireless experience similar to the Meta Quest 2, and is expected to impact the consumer hardware and gaming sectors.
