AMD Acquires AI Research Lab World Labs for $8.2 Billion

AMD has announced the acquisition of World Labs, an AI research lab co-founded by Dr. Fei-Fei Li, in an all-stock deal valued at approximately $8.2 billion. This strategic move aims to strengthen AMD's capabilities in developing AI hardware, software, and systems, particularly integrating World Labs' spatial AI research into its GPU roadmaps for native support of 3D and world model workloads. Dr. Li will become AMD's executive vice president and chief scientist.
