The Wikimedia Foundation disclosed that OpenAI-operated agents made millions of automated requests across Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, and the Wikidata Query Service, contributing to a partial outage in May 2026. OpenAI has reportedly admitted to the activity.
