Cisco Unveils Quantum Network Controller for On-Demand Entanglement

Cisco has developed a research prototype called the Quantum Network Controller, designed to allow applications to request entanglement from a quantum network on demand. This innovation aims to simplify the management and scaling of quantum networks, which currently require manual configuration of hardware for entanglement delivery. The controller acts as a software layer to schedule work across a shared quantum fabric, moving beyond point-to-point links.
