BASF, Chery, and Orient Motion Unveil World's First Mass-Produced Electromechanical Brake (EMB) Brake-by-Wire System
BASF, Chery Automobile, and Suzhou Orient Motion Intelligent Technology have jointly presented the world's first mass-produced electromechanical brake (EMB) brake-by-wire system. Developed and industrialized in China, this system has been deployed in Chery's premium EXEED EX7 model. The EMB technology replaces conventional hydraulic transmission with electronically controlled actuators, enabling deep integration of braking systems, vehicle dynamics control, and software platforms. Test results indicate significant advantages in braking response, control precision, and safety redundancy, enhancing active vehicle safety and supporting the evolution of automotive electrical and electronic architectures. BASF's Ultramid® polyamide and Ultradur® polybutylene terephthalate engineering plastics are used in key EMB components.
