Wolfspeed Receives $1.5 Billion DOD Loan for Semiconductor Expansion and Research

Wolfspeed, a semiconductor manufacturer, has secured a $1.5 billion unconditional loan from the U.S. Defense Department's Office of Strategic Capital. These funds are designated to enhance gallium nitride epitaxy for communications and electronic warfare systems, develop radiation-resistant silicon carbide and gallium nitride products, and expand power device production. This investment aims to bolster domestic semiconductor capabilities crucial for defense and advanced technology sectors.
