NEC Develops Advanced VLM Technologies for Accurate Disaster Damage Identification

NEC Corporation has developed two new Vision-Language Model (VLM) technologies, VLM-based Local Region Understanding and Continual Learning for VLMs, aimed at accelerating rescue and recovery efforts in disaster sites. These technologies enable accurate identification of small-scale damage in images and allow for the addition of new search criteria, significantly reducing the time required for damage assessment.
