Apache Cassandra Experiments Show Significant Storage Reduction with Columnar SSTable Format

Experimental work on Apache Cassandra has demonstrated that a new columnar SSTable format can reduce table storage by 66% after compaction compared to the trie-indexed BTI format. This development, while still experimental, also showed faster longer-range reads, though ingestion slowed by about 5% and total node CPU time increased by 17%.
