Sony Introduces Miniature Image Sensor for Disposable Medical Endoscopes
Sony Semiconductor Solutions has unveiled the IMX742, an industry-first CMOS image sensor for single-use medical endoscopes. Measuring approximately 1mm square, this sensor supports digital output and stable data transmission over a 5-meter cable, enabling high-quality, low-noise imaging at 60fps for increasingly miniaturized medical devices. This innovation could enhance diagnostic capabilities and patient safety by facilitating smaller, disposable instruments.
