Supreme Court Resolves Texas-New Mexico Water Rights Case

The U.S. Supreme Court has issued a final ruling, concluding a protracted disagreement between Texas and New Mexico concerning water allocation from the Rio Grande. This resolution addresses deliveries mandated by the 1938 Rio Grande Compact. The settlement is designed to decrease groundwater extraction in southern New Mexico and provide more consistent water supplies to Texas.
