Federal Government to Mandate Colorado River Water Plan

The Bureau of Reclamation announced it will implement a new 10-year management plan for the Colorado River Basin if the seven affected states do not reach an agreement by the end of summer. This decision follows years of stalled negotiations and the river experiencing its worst water year on record. Current drought mitigation guidelines are set to expire in October.
