Education Department Acknowledges Breach of Title IX Injunction

The U.S. Department of Education has confirmed to the President and Congress that it violated a federal injunction concerning Title IX enforcement. An internal investigation substantiated claims that previous leadership hindered a regional office's adherence to a 2022 preliminary injunction. This injunction had prevented the department from issuing guidance that would extend Title IX protections to include sexual orientation and gender identity.
