Supreme Court Clarifies Venue for Document Falsification Cases

The U.S. Supreme Court has issued a unanimous decision regarding the appropriate trial location for offenses involving the falsification of documents to impede a federal investigation. The Court ruled that such cases must be tried in the district where the act of falsification occurred. This clarifies that the trial cannot be held in a different district solely because the investigation itself was situated there, as determined in the Abouammo v. United States case.
