US Lawmaker Renews Push for Legislation to Block Recognition of Taliban Rule

Representative Nancy Mace (R-SC) has renewed her efforts in Congress to advance legislation that would prohibit future U.S. administrations from formally recognizing Taliban rule in Afghanistan. Mace argues that any attempt to legitimize the Taliban would be 'reckless and dangerous' and undermine U.S. national security interests, also requiring terrorism-related designations against the group.
