White House Launches Initiative to Expand U.S. Nuclear Power Capacity by 5 GW

The U.S. Department of Energy launched the Utility Power Reactor Incremental Scaling Effort (UPRISE) at the White House. This initiative aims to add approximately 5 gigawatts (GW) of nuclear capacity by maximizing output from the nation's existing nuclear reactor fleet, advancing the President's May 2025 executive orders on energy policy.
