DOE Considers Converting Surplus Plutonium for Nuclear Fuel

The U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Nuclear Energy is in advanced discussions with industry to explore transforming nearly 20 metric tons of surplus plutonium. This initiative aims to convert the material into advanced nuclear fuel or use it for advanced reactor research and development.
