Medicare to Cover GLP-1 Medications for Weight Management Through New Program

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued guidance for its upcoming GLP-1 Bridge Program, set to begin July 1, 2026. This temporary initiative will allow eligible Medicare beneficiaries to receive coverage for GLP-1 medications for weight management, a significant change from previous Part D exclusions.
