DEA Initiates Hearing for Wider Marijuana Rescheduling

The Drug Enforcement Administration has started an expedited administrative hearing to consider reclassifying marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule III of the Controlled Substances Act. This action follows a December 2025 Executive Order from President Trump and an April 2026 Justice Department order that already placed FDA-approved and state-licensed medical marijuana products into Schedule III. The hearing aims to broaden this reclassification.
