Washington D.C. Under Heightened Security for America's 250th Anniversary Celebrations

Washington D.C. is implementing extensive security measures for the nation's 250th anniversary celebrations on July 4, 2026, which have been designated a 'national special security event.' Nearly 5,000 National Guard troops, along with hundreds of officers from 44 local law enforcement agencies sworn in by the U.S. Marshals Service, are providing security.
