Federal Agencies Establish Framework for State and Local Counter-Drone Operations

The Department of Justice (DOJ) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released an Interim Final Rule, implementing provisions of the SAFER SKIES Act. This rule, along with coordinated actions from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), creates an operational framework for state, local, Tribal, and territorial law enforcement and correctional agencies to conduct authorized counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS) operations, enhancing national security and public safety.
