Trump Administration Asks Supreme Court to Allow Executive Order Targeting Mail-in Voting Ahead of Midterms

The order, issued in March, has been challenged by Democratic officials from 23 states and the District of Columbia, who argue that election rules are constitutionally set by states and Congress, not the president. A Massachusetts judge initially blocked the order for the plaintiff states, a ruling upheld by an appeals court. The Justice Department filed an emergency request with the Supreme Court on July 27.
