Federal Appeals Court Blocks Trump Executive Order Tightening Mail-In Voting Rules in 23 States

The First Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals upheld an injunction against President Donald Trump's March executive order that sought to impose new rules on mail-in voting. The order, which directed federal agencies to create a list of eligible voters for mail ballots and involved the U.S. Postal Service in ballot delivery, was challenged by 23 states and the District of Columbia. The appellate panel deemed parts of the order an "unprecedented federal incursion into states' exclusive power to determine voter eligibility."
