U.S. Bankruptcy Filings Rise 12.2 Percent in Past Year

Bankruptcy filings in the United States increased by 12.2 percent during the 12-month period ending June 30, 2026, reaching a total of 608,511 cases. Statistics released by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts show that business filings rose by 16.9 percent, while non-business bankruptcy filings increased by 12 percent.
