Department of Energy Announces $100 Billion Partnership for AI Data Center and Energy Infrastructure in Western Kentucky
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced a landmark partnership with Brookfield, NextEra Energy, and local power companies to redevelop portions of DOE's Paducah Site into a data center campus with new affordable energy infrastructure. This privately funded investment, exceeding $100 billion, is expected to create approximately 8,000 construction jobs and 600 permanent jobs, and includes plans for 2 gigawatts of new natural gas-fired generation and 2.6 gigawatts of battery storage.
