US Energy Department Partners on $100 Billion Kentucky AI Data Center and Energy Project

The U.S. Department of Energy, alongside Brookfield and NextEra Energy, announced a $100 billion private investment to develop a data center campus and new energy infrastructure at DOE's Paducah Site in Western Kentucky. This project includes 2 GW of natural gas generation, 2.6 GW of battery storage, and upgrades to transmission, aiming to support a new 1.8 GW AI and high-performance computing campus. It is expected to create 8,000 construction jobs and 600 permanent positions, significantly boosting regional energy capacity and AI capabilities.
