Transportation Secretary Announces Reforms to Modernize Train Noise Standards for High-Speed Rail

Duffy announced that the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) will modernize train noise emissions standards, which is expected to clear the way for high-speed rail development in the United States. The updated framework includes alternative standards for high-speed trains operating between 160 and 220 mph and an approval pathway for speeds exceeding 220 mph, aiming to save developers $100 million over 30 years by removing outdated requirements.
