U.S. Water Utilities Face Escalating Cyberattack Threat

The FBI and CISA have issued a warning regarding a significant increase in cyberattacks targeting water and wastewater utilities across at least seven U.S. states. Hackers have locked operators out of networks, modified passwords, and changed IP addresses, forcing some utilities to manual operations and boil-water notices. This escalation poses a direct risk to public health and critical infrastructure.
