FCC Restricts New Foreign-Produced Robotics and Power Inverter Devices Over National Security Concerns
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has updated its Covered List to include new categories of "advanced robotic devices" and connected power inverters produced in foreign countries. This action follows determinations by a White House-convened interagency body that these products pose unacceptable risks to U.S. national security or the safety and security of U.S. persons, citing potential supply chain vulnerabilities and cybersecurity risks to critical infrastructure. The restrictions apply to new device models and do not impact previously acquired devices or federal government purchases.
