Federal Appeals Courts Again Reject Trump Administration's Mandatory Immigrant Detention Policy

Two additional federal appeals courts have ruled against the Trump administration's policy that subjected millions of immigrants to mandatory detention without access to bond hearings. These rulings join similar decisions from four other federal appeals courts and numerous district court judges, consistently finding the policy unlawful. The policy, adopted in mid-2025, mandated detention without bond for anyone entering the U.S. without inspection.
