Trump Administration Accused of Throttling Federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality

The Trump administration has reportedly curtailed most activities of the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), an agency crucial for improving patient safety and curbing hospital infections. Through cuts to staffing and grant allocation, the administration has effectively shut down the agency's operations. AHRQ informed researchers in a July 15 letter that it was halting at least 104 grants, many focused on patient safety, despite Congress appropriating $345 million for the agency this fiscal year.
