Congress Introduces Bill to Condition U.S. Arms Sales to Turkey on Human Rights Reforms

Bipartisan legislation, titled the "Turkey Human Rights Promotion Act of 2026," has been introduced in both the U.S. House and Senate. The bill seeks to block U.S. security assistance and military aid to Turkey unless the Secretary of State certifies that the Turkish government has made significant improvements in human rights, rule of law, and adherence to international court judgments.
