New Congressional Bill Seeks to Block U.S. Arms Sales to Turkey Over Human Rights Concerns

A new bill, titled the Turkey Human Rights Promotion Act of 2026, has been introduced in both the U.S. House and Senate. The legislation aims to tie U.S. weapons sales and military aid to Turkey to verified human rights reforms, and also proposes sanctions and visa bans for Turkish officials.
