Department of State Finalizes Permanent Visa Bond Program

The Department of State finalized a rule establishing a permanent Visa Bond Program, effective August 3, 2026. This program authorizes consular officers to require B-1/B-2 visa applicants to post a bond of up to $20,000 as a condition of visa issuance, aimed at ensuring nonimmigrant status compliance and timely departure from the United States.
