HHS Proposes Reforms to Head Start Program to Expand Access and Reduce Red Tape

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced a new proposed rule, 'Reducing Federal Burden for Head Start Programs,' aimed at expanding access, reducing administrative burdens, and refocusing the program on its core mission. This initiative is projected to preserve or expand up to 236,000 Head Start slots nationwide and save $2.2 billion, representing the largest known reinvestment in the program in over six decades.
