Trump Administration and States Appeal Mail-in Voting Executive Order to Supreme Court

The Trump administration, joined by 12 states including Indiana, has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to allow the U.S. Postal Service to implement a new policy determining mail-in ballot eligibility. This appeal seeks to overturn lower court rulings that blocked key provisions of a March executive order, which aimed to establish a State Citizenship List and verification procedures for mail-in ballots. A hearing on a renewed motion for a preliminary injunction was scheduled for August 7, 2026.
