U.S. Coast Guard Deploys Fast-Response Cutters to Western Pacific to Counter China's Claims

The U.S. Coast Guard has reassigned six fast-response cutters to the Western Pacific, enhancing its presence in a vast maritime region where China has made aggressive and illegal claims. These Sentinel-class ships, previously based in the Middle East, will operate out of Singapore and the Philippines to conduct cooperative maritime activities, including enforcing fishing regulations, interdicting drugs, and inspecting vessels. This deployment aims to support national security objectives and complement existing U.S. forces in the region.
