Executive Order Seeks to Alter U.S. Childhood Immunization Schedule

President Trump signed an executive order, "Gold Standard Childhood Vaccine Recommendations," on August 10, 2026, to revise the U.S. childhood immunization schedule. The order reduces universally recommended shots from 17 to 11, mandates splitting the MMR vaccine into three separate shots when available, and requires all childhood vaccines be administered at separate appointments. A HHS task force will adjust the schedule within 90 days.
